Peace We Often Forfeit

For the king trusts in the LORD. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling.

-Psalm 21 v 7 (NLT)
Sometimes I get so overwhelmed. So badly! It might be school, people or just simply life.I fix my eyes on the problem instead of the solution Jesus. I stand broken and burnt out and then God comes and goes, why are you being so silly, I’m on your side. He stands beside me and defends his goal just like a hockey match. He marks up close to stop me running to the wrong prize. No matter how alone I fell, I know I have a God who stands so close to me, who never leaves me because he wants me. He never needed me but he chose me. In psalm 38 David writes a prayer for a time of sickness. Yet in the midst of it v 15 he says “I trust you Lord, You will answer my Lord and God.” David never lost sight of the prize, he knew who he was in God, the power God possessed and that love had already won. I am reminded of a hymn, a little one but one if you really let it into your heart, changes things big time,

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
    All our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
    Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
    Oh, what needless pain we bear,
    All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
  2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Can we find a friend so faithful,
    Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
  3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
    Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Saviour, still our refuge—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
    Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
    Thou wilt find a solace there.
  4. Blessed Saviour, Thou hast promised
    Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
    May we ever, Lord, be bringing
    All to Thee in earnest prayer.
    Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
    There will be no need for prayer—
    Rapture, praise, and endless worship
    Will be our sweet portion there.

I look at people who are older and a whole lot wiser than me and so often they get this. They simply understand that he is steadfast, and so we should simply trust. I hope one day to be able to get my head around his faithfulness.

Have a beautiful day, all my love x
