Late that day he said to them, “Let’s go across to the other side.” They took him in the boat as he was. Other boats came along. A huge storm came up. Waves poured into the boat, threatening to sink it. And Jesus was in the stern, head on a pillow, sleeping! They roused him, saying, “Teacher, is it nothing to you that we’re going down?” Awake now, he told the wind to pipe down and said to the sea, “Quiet! Settle down!” The wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass. Jesus reprimanded the disciples: “Why are you such cowards? Don’t you have any faith at all?” They were in absolute awe, staggered. “Who is this, anyway?” they asked. “Wind and sea at his beck and call!”
-Mark 4:35-41 MSG
Wind pounding, sea hurling, sea spray everywhere – sometimes I feel pounded by the waves. We so often forget that our God is in charge. That he has full authority to stop the storm. We crawl through the storm forgetting that there is protection and comfort inside who we are. If we lived like the God who created the universe was inside us what would change? Fear. Fear would never inhabit our lives.
I love that my God, is a God who crosses the water. That he’s a God that came down so that I could go up. He’s a God who is patient who reveals himself to us more and more everyday. Who calls us deeper. Who daily leaves us in awe.
I pray today that we would be astounded by his awesomeness once more. That his strength, power and character would newly astound us. If your feeling a little less for wear remember that God calls you just the same in your broken state as he does when you feel new and shiny.
God sees you. He sees you in a complete mess. Broken, torn, hurt and says no girl. That’s not who I have called you to be. I love you. I see you
Take my hand you can conquer this with me. He takes us and brings us into a bigger world than we could have ever seen with our own eyes.
God can do more with your little than you could do with everything.
Remember who he is. Stand in awe and wonder – that he loves you. That countless times a day he chooses you. He chose me when I was hopeless, broken and a complete mess. He took me from the slums. He is faithful. He is mighty.
