Here at SSL we have a vision. To connect every person that we engage with – daily to the heart of Jesus, whether that is through our interactions, conversations or blog posts. We believe fundamentally that God created each of us:
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1 v 27
And that, that means he has a vision and purpose for our lives that is greater than we could ever imagine. We believe we are given gifts and talents – anointed for a special work that only we can carry out. We believe that when we exchange our life for his through the holy spirit that we get to reflect his heart, creativity and character.
Our vision is to see every person step into their purpose in God – using the gifts and talents they have been given whether they are ‘conventional’ gifts or unconventional.
We want to be a blog and a people that call out the gold in people – whether that is there ability to create a masterpiece with make up or run a mile. (This is what we mean by ‘unconventional’ church gits). We want your gifts, your talents, the things that you enjoy to be an offering to God.
We want you to realize that everything can be used to the glory of God – and that, that starts with your whole life.
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. – Romans 12 v 1-2
So this is our vision :
- To see you connected to Gods heart
- To see you growing in spiritual maturity and in relationship with him
- For you to realize that everything you are can be placed before God as an offering
- For you to realize that you are created to transform culture not just be part of it
So practically how are we doing this?
We believe as the central principle of who we are – is followers of Christ and that everything else stems from HIM. On Tuesdays we will post a devotional piece given to us from HIM. (and in part all about him).
We long to be a blog that ignites your passion and unifies it with God’s vision. We believe that for too long we have boxed off gifts and talents – that for example God could never use a love of all things beauty and fitness to fulfill his vision. We believe this is fundamentally wrong and on alternating Thursdays we hope to unify your passions with God’s calling for this world. We will look at fitness and beauty from a Godly perspective – from looking after the temple he has given you, (to enable you to fulfill everything he has for you). To beauty and everything it involves. Realizing it is less about covering up but more about expression and creativity. We believe creativity is a central principle of the King. And therefore one of the characteristics we get to share with him. We will look at cruelty free beauty, and highlight that your worth is not located in your looks but in the one who created you.
On a Sunday we want to write from our hearts to yours. We believe fundamentally as we walk along with Jesus his heart becomes our heart. That’s why we will look at letters from the heart of the father and revelations of perspectives on different issues that affect us the growing population.
To enable us to fulfill this we have expanded the team. Introductions are to follow but for now here is a little sneak peak!
God gives himself as our inheritance. He gives us His life, His death, His promises, and in eternity His glory. So we offer this blog to God as a living sacrifice of who we are – for when we get to the pearly white gates we long for each of us to turn around and say I gave everything. To say I leave this earth with empty hands and an open heart just as we will live everyday. God is good. That is true. Just like God says to Joshua in Joshua 13 there is still land to be conquered, there are souls still to be won, there are dreams still to be birthed and promises to be fulfilled. We hope that this blog will enable you to be given tools to use your everyday for Him. What a privilege it is to get to be part of His story. You are part of this story. And for that we are forever greatful. Glory to God forever and ever.
Lots of love SSL x
